Snow is precipitation in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of a multitude of snowflakes. Since it is composed of small rough particles it is a granular material. It has an open and therefore soft structure, unless packed by external pressure. Snow is commonly formed when water vapor undergoes deposition high in the atmosphere at a temperature of less than 0°C (32°F), and then falls to the ground.

Matt prepares himself.

Gram puts the skins on.

Sun? Partway up the road the weather appears to be breaking.

Feeling tricked we move onwards in a snowstorm.

Up through the trees, Matt strides onward.

Feeling a little disheartened we take a break and share stories in the snowstorm waiting for a sign. Most of the time when guys get together to go skiing they end up talking about stuff other than skiing, so thats what we did.

Much to our surprise and after a number of discussions about heading downwards the weather broke. So we decided to leave the cover of the trees and head for the summit of Cayoosh.

With clear weather comes cold.

Spindrift kicking off the summit.

Grahame on the final ascent.

I want to be up there now.

Bootpacking is more gruelling than skiing, more drudgerous most things.

Grahame and Matt on the summit. 2561 m.

Grahame on the summit ridge. The ski down was pretty exciting. The top portion off the summit was 53 deg. so fairly steep. After the descent my camera was out of order as the cold seemed to effect the battery.
The cozy Cayoosh hut had no human inhabitants, the logbook provided some entertainment for Matt.
A content Grahame enjoying tea and gummy bears. Another successful day trip from Vancouver to the Duffy.
